The Details

Now that you know the story, it's time you know the details.

This project, SoloHope, is about so much more than bracelets as I'm sure you've realized but since we hope that you buy some of these beautiful bracelets, you might want to know a few details about them.

Like mentioned in the previous blog, these bracelets are handcrafted in Honduras by two lovely ladies named Dilcia and Maribel. They create these works of art from pine straw and thread. As a friend of mine said to me "It's pine straw with purpose." And truly it is!

These ladies have been creating treasures from pine straw for some time. Baskets, pot holders, vases but bracelets are something new and something that will provide a much more consistent income versus the other items which were sold mostly to missionaries and mission teams. In April, I started working with these ladies through the help of a local missionary to create bracelets. Marketable. And much easier to ship. Plus what woman doesn't love jewelry! Why not wear jewelry that makes a difference.

With each SoloHope bracelet sold, these ladies are paid for their hard work. Additionally, a portion of each sale will go into a fund to sponsor these ladies' children to go to school when they reach school age. To break the cycle of poverty, I firmly believe education is the second most important factor. First is Jesus! To find true freedom, you must know the Word of God but to know what the Word of God says, you need the ability to read thus a need for education!

One more important detail--prices! One SoloHope Bracelet=$9. Three =$25.

Pic Above: SoloHope at The Call last Saturday! And yes the price is different in the pic than what is mentioned above but giving nickels back to people who really didn't want the nickel was a hassle. Better to keep it simple ;)
